Getting Dirty with Frank Body Creamy Face Cleanser

Cleansers are the easiest to review because you could tell immediately whether you’re going to love or hate that certain cleanser. Plus you could place whether it’s a first or second cleanser from the get go. Take for instance this Frank Body Creamy Face Cleanser (the brand name is a bit misleading, I know!), I immediately knew from the first time I applied this into my face that this is going to be a nice second cleanser or a morning cleanser.

The brand Frank Body is an Australian brand that is famous for its coffee scrub product. They’ve expanded since their initial success with the coffee scrub to facial products: cleanser, scrub and moisturizer. I picked a cleanser to get acquainted with this brand because it’s the easiest.

Frank Body is a brand that centre around the usage of coffee as its main ingredients. Whether it’s natural or not is something that I’m still unsure about but hey they’re not laden with chemical. Not that I shy away from skincare with chemical, but perhaps this could be a deciding factor for someone out there.

The cleanser bottle itself have this catchy line at the back of the bottle “I look dirty so you can look clean”, compared to another muddy looking cleanser that I’ve tried from another brand, such as Glamglow, this is only muddy looking because of the colour. I got this from Benscrub for IDR 379,000, which is pretty reasonable considering it’s 180ml in size. Quite a big bottle! Currently most of my cleansers are in the 100ml size and the price is quite similar. So pricewise, I’m pretty happy.

I know this is supposed to be a creamy cleanser, but I still measure the pH just in case. It read for pH 5 or 5.5. With or without mixing it with water. So pH is just about right.

I use this immediately on my skin, dry, in the morning or after I cleanse my makeup with cleanser in the afternoon. Both on dry skin. I use two to three pumps, the more product you use the more slip factor you get, and I like to lightly massage it into the skin. First of all, the colour is indeed greyish. Secondly, the smell is like pool water the kind that smells chemical but you get hooked because it smells clean. It goes on creamy and not milky, just like a Cetaphil cleanser, and doesn’t lather up at all.

As far as ingredients goes you can see below for the full ingredient list, I will not go into details about it. But the combination of coffee and charcoal for me are enough consideration to consider this as an effective cleanser. It’s also loaded with sweet almond oil to help keeping the skin moist. If you’re prone to clogged pores, sure there’s coconut oil in it, but combining it with salicylic acid and charcoal makes this product worth considering.

Water (Aqua), Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (Natural Surfactant), Cetearyl Olivate*, Cetearyl Alcohol*, Glycerin*, Sorbitan Olivate*, Coffea Arabica Seed Extract, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Pogostemon Cablin Oil (Patchouli), Althaea Officinalis Root Extract (Marshmallow), Echinacea Angustifolia Extract, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Salicylic Acid*, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Xanthan Gum*, Citric Acid*, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol (Natural), Charcoal Powder
* Naturally derived

Do I love it? As far as second cleanser goes this is definitely a good cleanser that is so affordable considering the size vs price factor. pH is right, no SLS, not drying. What else could you ask for from a cleanser?

Ah yes, that lush luxurious feel. Nope this ain’t that kind of heavenly scent and texture kind of cleanser that you want to splurge at. This is an effective cleanser that you want to reach out for everyday use because the price is reasonable and the product is good. I might splurge for Aesop, Antipodes or Grown Alchemist for those lux factors. Wishlist getting longer each day!

As I said before, you can get this cleanser through Benscrub at which stocks a lot of skincare brand from Australia and not just Frank Body. I’m giddy with excitement and I’m building my monthly shopping list knowing that my favourite brands are within my reach now.
