I’m always adventurous when it comes to skincare. I’m a loyal customer of Cult Beauty, they have great product lineup when it comes to skincare and really great customer service. With that said, I also love to lurk around for the brands selection at Cult Beauty and looking for their review.
One brand that come to my attention was Su-Man that created by facialist to the starlets of Hollywood Su-Man Hsu. Anne Hathaway described Su-Man Hsu’s facial “a life changing experience”. That got to mean something, right?
In Cult Beauty you can purchase the discover set called Skin Reborn Essential Discovery Collection for the price of £50 which contains Purifying Cleansing Gel-Oil (40ml), Exfoliating Facial Polish (40ml) and Velvet Skin Brightening Serum (15ml). The serum alone costs £98 for 30 ml which means you’re paying for half the full size of the serum and you get the cleanser and exfoliator for free! Since I was curious about the brand, I leap without thinking and got myself the whole set.
So here’s my full review regarding the three products in the set. You’re forewarned, this is going to be a lengthy post because it consist of three products review.
1. Su-Man Velvet Skin Brightening Serum
What is it? Taken from Cult Beauty
Velvet Skin Brightening Serum is brimming with powerful firming and anti-ageing extracts. Hyaluronic acid has a plumping effect, flooding skin with precious moisture to decrease the visibility of fine lines and wrinkle, while rosehip seed oil (a rich source of essential fatty acids) helps promote skin repair and restore its strength and elasticity.
Aqua (Water), Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Cassia Alata Leaf Extract, Tranexamic Acid, Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil, Propanediol, Croton Lechleri Resin Extract, Glycosphingolipids, Phospholipids, Cholesterol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chlorphenesin,Fragrance(Parfum), EthylAscorbic Acid, Methylisothiazolinone, Linalool Benzyl Salicylate, Red 40 / CI 16035
If you see it in the bottle, it looks like there are two separate elements within the bottle. You need to give it a good shake before using it so that the two elements mix well into a cloudy textured serum.
The serum is truly velvety and it leaves a really nice silky feel after using it. My skin feels really smooth and velvety and my foundation smooth over really nicely. But I feel that is not a long term effect. This product is filled with Hyaluronic Acid so it’s no surprise that it feels hydrating.
However other than that, I’m not sure I’m willing to repurchase the full size product at that price tag for only those two benefit. I don’t really see any brightening effect at all. Although I feel that overall my skin looks glowing but it’s not that significant. I’m still divided about this serum. Let’s see how my skin looks like without it since I almost run out of it. But the texture is one of the best serums that I’ve tried so far.
2. Su-Man Exfoliating Facial Polish
What is it? Taken from Cult Beauty
Her Exfoliating Facial Paste is brimming with potent brightening and antioxidant extracts, including Camu Camu – bursting with Vitamin C to help lighten dark spots and protect from free radicals; white lily extract , which acts as a natural exfoliant and helps to counteract hyperpigmentation and dragon’s blood extract (found in all Su-Man products), which works to gradually ‘un-do’ damage and restore skin strength and elasticity.
Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isononyl Isononanoate, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Powder, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Dibehenate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Tribehenin, Glyceryl Behenate, Glycerin, Tocopherol, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Water (Aqua), Propanediol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf Extract, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Croton Lechleri Resin Powder Extract, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract
Surprisingly, for a person who do not love physical exfoliating product, I love this one so much. The bottle is brilliant, it’s a twist flop kind of bottle which you can dispense the product easily. I love the bottle!
The product is mainly coffee seed powder (very fine one) in a mixture of oil. So you need to give it a good shake before you dispense it. The scent of coffee is a real treat in the morning as you massage it into your skin. I like to leave it in after I massage it on a dry clean skin for couple of minutes, since caffeine is really good for depuffing. My face tends to look puffy if I don’t get enough sleep and this helps alot. This also doesn’t feel too scratchy on my face, the oil helps it to slide on my skin easily.
Bottom line, this one is a keeper! Also, it leaves my face looking brighter when I have dull skin.
3. Su-Man Purifying Cleansing Gel Oil
What is it? From Cult Beauty
Silky to the touch and suitable for all skin types – even easily upset complexions – this makes light work of make up removal, to leave your face clean (but not squeaky), with a lit-from-within luminosity.
Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Water (Aqua), Sucrose Palmitate, Sucrose Laurate, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Linoleic Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Sucrose Dilaurate, Chlorphenesin, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Salicylic Acid, Propanediol, Tocopherol, Linalool, Sodium Hyaluronate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Sea Water (Maris Aqua), Benzyl Salicylate, Bixa Orellana Seed Extract, Eugenol, Limonene, Croton Lechleri Resin Powder Extract, Linolenic Acid, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Extract
I’ve just opened this one recently it has the same brilliant bottle as the exfoliant. Surprisingly for a balm that doesn’t feel too thick it feels really waxy on the face. Your hands slides on your skin as you massage it with this product but it has a really thick waxy feeling. Interestingly, it contains Salicylic Acid on the product. So I’m not sure whether I want to use this together with the exfoliant.
One thing for sure, it’s a great product to remove makeup because it’s really waxy. It’s a great cleanser because despite being waxy it turns milky instantly at the touch of water even cold one. It doesn’t have any strong scent. A more normal one if you want to venture into balm that doesn’t have strong scent.
