What do I use Son & Park Beauty Water for?

When a friend of mine went to South Korea, it’s hard to say no to her offer of getting me some of the good and affordable skincare from South Korea. There are cornucopia of products that garner interest of many of the Korean Skincare enthusiast and they’re often not that pricey. Off course, there are the exception of some luxurious brands that are also made it into my favourite as well.

Among others, I asked her to get me these two products: Son & Park Beauty Water and Cremorlab Mineral Treatment Essence. So much hyped surrounding these two products and I must say it took me some trial and error to actually found a way to use these two.

Today, I will be reviewing the Beauty Water first. So much question about this product. Whether I love it or not. How do I use it?

What is it?

I took it off straight from Soko Glam, where you can get this product at around USD 30 if you resides in the States.

This multi-tasking toner and cleansing water has quickly become a cult favorite, as well as a 2015 Soko Glam Beauty Award Winner! It creates a clean base for the next steps in your skincare and makeup routine. Originally created by master artists, Son & Park, Beauty Water lives up to its name.

Not just a cleanser, it has mild exfoliation abilities with willow bark and papaya extract to help sweep away dead skin cells, revealing brighter skin tone and smoother texture. Lavender water, rose water, and orange fruit extract impart a subtle hydration so your skin canbe prepped to absorb the next skin care steps, while adding in a bit of moisture. 

Beauty Water can be used in the morning to create the perfect canvas for makeup application, midday as a refresher, and night after cleansing to whisk away remaining impurities. For normal, oily, dry, and combination skin types. Beauty Water has a pH of 5, effectively resetting the skin’s natural pH after cleansing.

It is quite a long list. But the first two that you see here are water and rose water. Which is what making this product a very watery and lightweight product. Other than that there are a lot of oil to help hydrate. There are some acid like Malic Acid and Tartaric Acid, both are a weaker type of AHA.

How do you use it and my review, sandwiched into one section!

The product is dubbed as a multifunctional product that you can use as a cleansing water, exfoliating toner or hydrating toner. Too much too asked from a product.

It’s at first a little bit confusing for me. How can one single product offers you so many thing in just one swipe. So let’s dissect its claim one by one:

1. As a cleansing water

I must say when I swiped it, it doesn’t feel as sticky as other cleansing water or micellar water that I’ve used. Micellar water uses micelles and normally they feel sticky. This doesn’t feel sticky at all, it leaves a refreshing feeling just like when you use your rose water toner. It does cleanse as good as cleansing water and feels more invigorating.

Verdict: yes!

2. As an exfoliating toner

Though it contains two milder AHA, but when I use this as exfoliating toner, I tried it for three days, I keep wanting to reach out for my exfoliating toner. I don’t see the oomph that I get from using exfoliating toner.

Verdict: no.

It might work for those looking for a mild exfoliating toner but don’t want anything really exfoliating and not ready for a full blown exfoliating action.

3. As a hydrating toner

So it says this can hydrates and freshens your skin. On the first claim, on my dry skin I don’t think this gives enough hydration. But I can see oily skin and normal skin loving this as a hydrating toner. But it does gives a nice invigorating feel when I pat it over my makeup.

Verdict: 50:50. It might work for normal to oily skin, but not nearly hydrating enough for dry skin.

I uses it with a cotton pad, soaked pretty heavily and swiped it across my face.

My favourite way of using this product

I uses a lot of mask. Sometimes those mask leaves a stain or film on my skin even after I wash it. Especially clay masks, they’re really hard to cleanse. So I like to use this to cleanse the mask thoroughly and freshen up my skin before I go in with an exfoliating toner. Usually, exfoliating toner doesn’t feel as excruciating on a hydrated skin.

Secondly, it’s often that I got home on the afternoon feeling really tired and sleepy. I want to be able cleanse my skin but not ready to go in with my PM routine. So what I did was usually I will do my first cleanse with balm or cream cleanser and use this as a second cleanse that acts as a mild toner as well before I seal everything with oil until I’m ready to do my full PM routine.
