I love a good enzyme peel powder wash. Especially if they feel right and soft on the skin and have a low pH. This one from Amore Pacific is one of my favourites among with Fancl and Sum37 powder wash. I’ll tell you why in a minute.
But first of all I want to explain why I love enzyme peel powder wash. It’s a powder form cleanser that you mix with water to produce a big thick foam. Most powder wash, at least the good ones, able to produce a really good quality thick foam with the help of foaming net or ball. The good thing about this is because it’s a dry product, they quality of product maintain intact for some period of times. You just need to keep it away from humid place and water as to guarantee no accident will happen. The good thing about enzyme is that it helps with surface exfoliation; lifting away all the dead skin cells that already looks flaky and dull. Usually I will make a foam, leave the foam on my face for two minutes or so before rinsing it off. For a more heavy duty surface exfoliation I usually reach for my enzyme peel mask. It works better than a physical scrub in lifting away dead skin cells that are ready to come off.
Is it ok to combine this with acid toner? Yes, as long as you don’t use too much exfoliation product. Rule of thumb is three exfoliating products at one go is safe enough. For me that would be this enzyme peel wash with no flannel involved in cleansing – if you do, that would be your second exfoliator-, acid toner and vitamin C during day time and retinol at night.
First of all I love this product because it has a low pH. I think it’s somewhere between 5-6. If it’s nearing to 6 I think it’s still safe enough and it doesn’t irritate my skin at all.

I think it’s inevitable for those with medium to tan complexion wanting a brighter skin. So sometimes we resort in an instant solution – those evil Vitamin C injection, yes there’s such thing! I know the celebrities are doing that for a boost of energy, but in this part of the world, many are doing it without professional supervision for beauty related reason. Very dangerous endeavour I must say.
So instead of the dangerous path to instant solution, I present you something that will make your complexion instantly brighter at a reasonable state but still very safe. Mind you, it will make your skin brighter but at a normal state, not brighter than your original skin complexion.
What is it? Dr Jart Trans-Foam Clay in Calming White
It’s a white clay product that is actually a foam cleanser that you can use as a normal cleanser. Similar to the Glamglow cleansers. Once it touches water, it will transform into a clay.
How to use it? Apply liberally allover your face, on a clean face and dry skin. Leave it for about three to five minutes because it’s sort of like a quick mask. Wash with warm water while massaging the clay in circular motion until it all transform into foam and lather off.
I prefer to use it as a second cleanser because that way I can get the maximum effect of the product.

I’m going to review yet another cleanser. I know *yawn*, another cleanser! But I’m trying to clear out as many of my cleansers review as I can because apparently I have alot to catch up. It seems like I’m missing out alot if I don’t write the review of this renowned Glamglow Thirstycleanse. It was so popular that they seems to be low of stock on one period of time. Or was that the mask? I totally forgot.
Alrighty, let’s begin our review.
What is it? Quoting it straight from Sephora.
THIRSTYCLEANSE™ is a revolutionary daily cleanser that combines the power of mud and the performance of foam for a new daily cleansing experience. It transforms from a luxurious mud into a moisture-rich foaming lather to gently and effectively rinse away makeup, dirt, and impurities while deeply moisturizing your skin. It is formulated with rare Brazilian yellow clay to help to remineralize the skin, pure green coconut water to immediately boost skin for intense hydration, olive milk rich in olive lipids and proteins to replenish skin, and plumeria flower blossom extract rich in omega 3, 6, and 9 to restore the skin barrier function. Indian gooseberry revitalizes and restores natural skin clarity while TEAOXI® olive leaf powder delivers natural linoleic acid to maintain moisture. Designed to create a hydrated, silky, and dewy fresh complexion, it helps maintain results of your current weekly treatments for healthy-looking, beautiful skin.
In my own word … it’s basically a slightly muddier and thicker version of your usual Thirstymud mask with a soft grit from the clay with the same caramel color and scent. This one however cleanses your face and it turns milky easily!

Cleansers are the easiest to review because you could tell immediately whether you’re going to love or hate that certain cleanser. Plus you could place whether it’s a first or second cleanser from the get go. Take for instance this Frank Body Creamy Face Cleanser (the brand name is a bit misleading, I know!), I immediately knew from the first time I applied this into my face that this is going to be a nice second cleanser or a morning cleanser.
The brand Frank Body is an Australian brand that is famous for its coffee scrub product. They’ve expanded since their initial success with the coffee scrub to facial products: cleanser, scrub and moisturizer. I picked a cleanser to get acquainted with this brand because it’s the easiest.
Frank Body is a brand that centre around the usage of coffee as its main ingredients. Whether it’s natural or not is something that I’m still unsure about but hey they’re not laden with chemical. Not that I shy away from skincare with chemical, but perhaps this could be a deciding factor for someone out there.
The cleanser bottle itself have this catchy line at the back of the bottle “I look dirty so you can look clean”, compared to another muddy looking cleanser that I’ve tried from another brand, such as Glamglow, this is only muddy looking because of the colour. I got this from Benscrub for IDR 379,000, which is pretty reasonable considering it’s 180ml in size. Quite a big bottle! Currently most of my cleansers are in the 100ml size and the price is quite similar. So pricewise, I’m pretty happy.

I’m currently on cleanser frenzy. Sure I’ve been doing double cleansing since forever, but for forever, I don’t have much to consider other than 1. It’s not drying and 2. It removes makeup effectively (if it’s a first cleanser).
Now I have a whole list of things to consider *hyperbole*. But if you’re reading my cleansers review, you must wonder how I get to pick and say I love and not love a certain thing, right?
Here are some of the deciding factors that makes a cleanser stay in my stash:
1. It doesn’t contain SLS
I’m not shaming SLS and this is in no way a scaremongering tactic. I’m not gonna say SLS is bad for the skin and environment and preach endlessly. But what I’m gonna tell you is that from the moment I knew that SLS could cause a sensitive skin breakout more easily I decided to stay away from this ingredient. Also, it’s one of the many ingredients that cause your skin to feel dry. Eversince I skip SLS, I feel much better about my skin. I still have one or two cleansers that have SLS just because I love the overall feel of it.

Obviously this is just to reconfirm that the pH is indeed 4. The full review is available on the blog. No SLS. Not available in Indonesia. I bought mine from Eri’s lapak at Female Daily Market Plaza for around IDR 345,000 (depending on exchange rate).
For the longest time, I have been telling people that there are plenty of cleansers out there that you need to try out first before you reach out for Sunday Riley Ceramic Cleanser. I hate the fact that everything from Sunday Riley is ridiculously overpriced and seems to be marketed to be a breakthrough in the market. Where in fact, I’ve seen similar product before. There’s nothing new. But her PR and Marketing people are so good that it’s everywhere and it’s the brand to have!
Considering that the price of this cleanser is USD 45 (before tax!) is not exactly cheap. Of course, this is also the time where I’ve found out that Sum37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick is as lush as what people said. Fancl Washing Powder is just as mild and great. So what’s the fuss really!
I’ll tell you why I’ve changed my mind and why it’s definitely an ok thing for you to get this cleanser. It’s so worth the splurge!
