Holy Grail: Patyka Huile Absolue, The Oil That Will Guard Your Hydration & Soften Your Skin

Patyka is a brand that I’ve been eyeing since forever because it’s an natural skincare brand, that is legit with its ECOCERT in tow, and it’s a luxury Parisian brand. The first time I came across this brand what pique my interest is the smart packaging and how beautiful it is.

But what’s inside is apparently way more interesting. I’ve tried several of their products and I promise I will review each and single one of them – if not here in my blog it will be on my instagram. Let me start by sharing this one review about their gorgeous Patyka Huile Absolue.

Patyka Huile Absolue is “Huile Absolue stimulates cell regeneration and gives skin unique radiance. It is a skin booster which can be used as a skincare treatment when urgent TLC is required or as an everyday serum for the face, body and hair.” taken straight from the website! I obviously only use this on the face, because the price isn’t cheap.

So what’s inside?

INGREDIENTS : SQUALANE, ROSA CANINA FRUIT OIL*, SESAMUM INDICUM (SESAME) SEEDOIL*, SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL*, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE)*, GERANIOL**, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL*, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL*, TOCOPHEROL, LIMONENE**, TRITICUM VULGARE (WHEAT) GERM OIL, CITRONELLOL**,HYPERICUM PERFORATUM EXTRACT*, LINALOOL**, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, CITRUS RETICULATA (TANGERINE) PEEL OIL.

**Made using organic ingredients

What do I think about it?

Like I said this is an absolutely gorgeous oil. It’s a little bit thick on texture, hence I prefer to use this at night. But once applied, it feels comfortable and soak into the skin effortlessly. It doesn’t feel like it stays on the surface of your skin. At night, I use this on top of my serum and I love to use this on top of my retinol serum that is very drying. I would either use this alone or if my skin is really dry I will apply either a light moisturiser or a gel based sleeping mask.

During the first couple of weeks this feels like any other oil that I’ve used. It feels like it able to seal in hydration. But that’s it.

Things changed when I travelled to several destinations last month. I got exposed to both hot and cold weather. Rain and shine. But my skin is well hydrated and super soft amidst all the dehydration. I notice that it’s all from this! Because I only use vitamin C serum during this period, while it maintain my skin texture but it has the tendency of making my skin dry and flaky.

This makes sense! Cause the main ingredients like squalane that’s great for locking in moisture. Rosa canina fruit oil or my favourite rosehip that feels hydrating on my skin and at the same time helps with wrinkles and texture. Sunflower seed oil is great for inflammed and irritated skin hence why this is really good for calming my skin through the ever changing weather condition. Other than that there’s Jojoba seed and olive fruit oil well that help with hydration and maintaining it.

My bottom line for this oil is that this oil is worth every rupiah! It might not be cheap, it feels ok when my skin is normal but when my skin needed it, it works great in maintaining my skin condition in its top shape. I like oil like this, when you need it, they work great! When you don’t, it doesn’t bug you and work in the background keeping your skin intact.

Other oil that feels like this are Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial oil (but this one feels more hydrating), In Fiore Nourrit Complexe (that is more expensive but also feels better for texture) and AESOP Fabulout Face Oil (feels lighter but result are the same, I need to review this one!).

How do I use this?

I use this on top of my serum(s) as a finishing at night or under a moisturiser if my skin feels really dry. I love using this on top of my Retinol serum because this helps to seal in hydration that I need, cause usually when I’m using retinol serum my skin feels really dry. Hydration evaporates so quickly and it’s hard to trap it even under the creamiest/thickest moisturiser. Also, if you don’t feel like adding a serum, this helps if you’re looking for something to maintain hydration and texture.

A touch of Su-Man life changing experience

Screen Shot 2016-04-02 at 1.48.57 PM

I’m always adventurous when it comes to skincare. I’m a loyal customer of Cult Beauty, they have great product lineup when it comes to skincare and really great customer service. With that said, I also love to lurk around for the brands selection at Cult Beauty and looking for their review.

One brand that come to my attention was Su-Man that created by facialist to the starlets of Hollywood Su-Man Hsu. Anne Hathaway described Su-Man Hsu’s facial “a life changing experience”. That got to mean something, right?

In Cult Beauty you can purchase the discover set called Skin Reborn Essential Discovery Collection for the price of £50 which contains Purifying Cleansing Gel-Oil (40ml), Exfoliating Facial Polish (40ml) and Velvet Skin Brightening Serum (15ml). The serum alone costs £98 for 30 ml which means you’re paying for half the full size of the serum and you get the cleanser and exfoliator for free! Since I was curious about the brand, I leap without thinking and got myself the whole set.

So here’s my full review regarding the three products in the set. You’re forewarned, this is going to be a lengthy post because it consist of three products review.

1. Su-Man Velvet Skin Brightening Serum

What is it? Taken from Cult Beauty

Velvet Skin Brightening Serum is brimming with powerful firming and anti-ageing extracts. Hyaluronic acid has a plumping effect, flooding skin with precious moisture to decrease the visibility of fine lines and wrinkle, while rosehip seed oil (a rich source of essential fatty acids) helps promote skin repair and restore its strength and elasticity. A truly exotic scent from Balmology!

IMG_2896.JPG

I’m a huge fan of face oil. So there’s no surprise here that lately I have been reviewing face oil. My latest acquisition and object of affection is the Balmology Exotic Rose Beauty Oil. I picked up a sample from Naturisimo, which you can purchase with any full size product purchase on their site. The size is quite generous which is 4 ml for the price of £2. A really great way to test whether you’re going to like the product or not. As it happened to be, I don’t just like it but I love it.

Here’s a complete ingredient list:

Argania spinosa kernel (argan) oil, Macadamia ternifolia (macadamia) oil, Corylus avellana (hazelnut) oil, Rosa canina (rosehip) oil, Persea gratissima (avocado) oil, Tocopherol, Cymbopogon martini (palmarosa), Pelargonium graveolens roseum (geranium bourbon), Boswellia carterii (frankincense), Rosa damascena (rose otto). First Love: Trilogy Rosehip Oil

Trilogy Rosehip Oil is my first love when it comes to facial oil. Not a day goes by that I thank Lena for introducing me to this wonderful concoction of Rosa Canina Seeds oil – in other word, the wonderful Rosehip oil. Trilogy is my go to brand for  anything Rosehip related. Back in the days this is quite a famous brand because it has the endorsement of celebrities. Upon trying this product, I can see why those celebrities put their sign of approval in this brand because it’s really that good.

What does Rosehip oil do? It helps to heal scar, which means if you have any nasty scar from post acne battle, this will help significantly. It makes your skin appear brighter but I think this is due to your skin condition to be at its good condition and well hydrated so all in all it appears more radiant. Also, it makes your skin feel plumper.

During my skin detox, I used products from Trilogy because they work and they don’t have complicated ingredient list. It’s a tight-knit lot that works effectively with each other.

My Aussie Haul

Being surrounded by beauty junkie alike from FD means that I’m no short of offers to get me beauty stuff from overseas. The problem is, this makes me short on cash *gah!*. On my friend’s recent visit to Australia, she managed to get me these loot. I’m so excited of these natural goodies, which the Aussies (and extend that to the Kiwis) are known for. If the French have Pharmacy, then the Aussie have Chemist. It’s loaded with affordable skincare and mostly dominated by homegrown beauty product that is either organic or natural. They’re also serious when putting those labels. On top of that, compared to the Western Hemisphere products, the price tag is much much more reasonable.

See the description after the jump.
