Holy Grail: Patyka Huile Absolue, The Oil That Will Guard Your Hydration & Soften Your Skin

Patyka is a brand that I’ve been eyeing since forever because it’s an natural skincare brand, that is legit with its ECOCERT in tow, and it’s a luxury Parisian brand. The first time I came across this brand what pique my interest is the smart packaging and how beautiful it is.

But what’s inside is apparently way more interesting. I’ve tried several of their products and I promise I will review each and single one of them – if not here in my blog it will be on my instagram. Let me start by sharing this one review about their gorgeous Patyka Huile Absolue.

Patyka Huile Absolue is “Huile Absolue stimulates cell regeneration and gives skin unique radiance. It is a skin booster which can be used as a skincare treatment when urgent TLC is required or as an everyday serum for the face, body and hair.” taken straight from the website! I obviously only use this on the face, because the price isn’t cheap.

So what’s inside?

What do I think about it?

Like I said this is an absolutely gorgeous oil. It’s a little bit thick on texture, hence I prefer to use this at night. But once applied, it feels comfortable and soak into the skin effortlessly. It doesn’t feel like it stays on the surface of your skin. At night, I use this on top of my serum and I love to use this on top of my retinol serum that is very drying. I would either use this alone or if my skin is really dry I will apply either a light moisturiser or a gel based sleeping mask.

During the first couple of weeks this feels like any other oil that I’ve used. It feels like it able to seal in hydration. But that’s it.

Things changed when I travelled to several destinations last month. I got exposed to both hot and cold weather. Rain and shine. But my skin is well hydrated and super soft amidst all the dehydration. I notice that it’s all from this! Because I only use vitamin C serum during this period, while it maintain my skin texture but it has the tendency of making my skin dry and flaky.

This makes sense! Cause the main ingredients like squalane that’s great for locking in moisture. Rosa canina fruit oil or my favourite rosehip that feels hydrating on my skin and at the same time helps with wrinkles and texture. Sunflower seed oil is great for inflammed and irritated skin hence why this is really good for calming my skin through the ever changing weather condition. Other than that there’s Jojoba seed and olive fruit oil well that help with hydration and maintaining it.

My bottom line for this oil is that this oil is worth every rupiah! It might not be cheap, it feels ok when my skin is normal but when my skin needed it, it works great in maintaining my skin condition in its top shape. I like oil like this, when you need it, they work great! When you don’t, it doesn’t bug you and work in the background keeping your skin intact.

Other oil that feels like this are Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial oil (but this one feels more hydrating), In Fiore Nourrit Complexe (that is more expensive but also feels better for texture) and AESOP Fabulout Face Oil (feels lighter but result are the same, I need to review this one!).

How do I use this?

I use this on top of my serum(s) as a finishing at night or under a moisturiser if my skin feels really dry. I love using this on top of my Retinol serum because this helps to seal in hydration that I need, cause usually when I’m using retinol serum my skin feels really dry. Hydration evaporates so quickly and it’s hard to trap it even under the creamiest/thickest moisturiser. Also, if you don’t feel like adding a serum, this helps if you’re looking for something to maintain hydration and texture.

I can’t believe that I haven’t reviewed the Goodal Super Seed Oil Plus Skin Mist, considering this face spray got constant spotlight on my Instagram. This is basically a face mist that can act as a hydrating toner or to freshen up your skin whenever you need an extra boost of hydration.

Goodal is a pretty simple brand from Korea. Considering most Korean brand have the illusion of state of the art ingredients and the latest innovation in skincare, this brand come out strong with its simplicity of using great oils as its main ingredients and no mumbo jumbo involved.

What is it?

As I said a straight forward face spray with one part layer and mostly water. The oil provides boost of hydration with green seed concentrate. The water layer is a combination of white flower complex and niacinamide for extra brightening and anti ageing benefit.

The 7 green seeds includes:

1. Sunflower Seed Oil – provides vitality
2. Jojoba Oil – increases hydration
3. Camellia Oil – maintains moisture
4. Green Tea Seed Oil – brightens
5. Argan Oil – provides skin elaticity
6. Olive Oil – calms
7. Macadamia Oil – nourishes

How to use

You can spray it straight onto clean skin after you apply your acid toner. I like to have a nice four sprays to cover all parts of the face and to make sure that I have enough hydration. Alternatively, this is a great face spray that you can use for Chizu Saeki Method (CSM)of applying hydrating lotion. Not only it will feel more hydrating but the herbal scent of this face spray makes the CSM a more enjoyable routine.
